Drama, dance, crafts and cooking are just some of the taster sessions on offer at a free event in Nuneaton on Thursday to showcase the wide range of activities available for people with learning disabilities in Warwickshire.
The ‘Come and have a try’ opportunities fair has been organised by Warwickshire County Council for people with learning disabilities, their families, carers and professionals.
The event is being held from 10am to 4pm on Thursday 1st November at the Jubilee Sports Centre, Nuneaton.
The focus is to give people with learning disabilities the chance to choose their own activities and explore courses from gardening to jobs skills, cookery to computing, amongst many others. The event will include workshops, interactive sessions and exhibition stands from local providers.
Cllr Izzi Seccombe, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care, said: “We want to support people with learning disabilities to enjoy a wider range of opportunities so they can lead more fulfilled, independent lives in their communities. Everyone is welcome to drop in to the opportunities fairs to find out more and try something new.”
