In June 2015, Heritage & Culture Warwickshire (HCW) announced the successful award of £965,500 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for the Our Warwickshire Project.
The ‘Our Warwickshire’ Project will promote access to heritage within Warwickshire communities, as well as significantly improving the experience for visitors to Market Hall Museum, Warwick. On 2nd September 2015, Warwickshire County Council awarded Workhaus Limited the contract to design and refurbish the re-energised Market Hall Museum. The money for this renovation gives HCW the opportunity to create a flexible, interactive and accessible museum so the public, can see more of the amazing objects within the collection. Previous clients of Workhaus have included the British Museum and Chelsea Football Museum.
During the closure period, all regular Heritage and Culture Warwickshire activities will be run from St John’s House Museum and Warwickshire County Record Office will remain open. There will also be a variety of activities across the county, including workshops on Our Warwickshire and the Museum on the Move on tour. Cllr Jeff Clarke, Portfolio holder for the Environment, said:
