Warwickshire’s country park events

School term may have already started but we still have plenty of activities taking place across Warwickshire County Council’s parks service over the next couple of weeks. So why not pack a picnic and the family and get down to your local park?

SATURDAY 10 SEPTEMBER
Bats Alive! at Ryton Pools Country Park

A chance to see live bats up close.  An evening slide presentation by a Ranger, then professional bat ecologist, Jon Russell, will be showing us some live, captive bats.  This will be followed by a night-time stroll to spot these amazing animals in their natural habitat.  Please wear sturdy footwear and suitable clothing for the walk, and bring a torch.

Time:  8.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.
Meet:  The Visitor Centre.
Cost:   £4.50 per person.

WEDNESDAY 14th & 21st SEPTEMBER
Toddler Trundle at Ryton Pools Country Park
A weekly event for the tiniest of tiddlers!  Leaf fun, stories, mud pies and collecting treasures will be amongst some of our activities designed for the smallest naturalists.  After the walk and activities, head back to The Courtyard Café for refreshments (extra cost for refreshments, exclusive reduced-price Toddler Trundle menu available).   A quarterly programme is available from the Visitor Centre giving activity details for each week.

Time:  10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
Meet:  The Visitor Centre Courtyard.
Cost:   £2.50 per toddler (excluding refreshments).

SATURDAY 24th & /SUNDAY 25th SEPTEMBER
Night Fishing Sessions at Kingsbury Water Park 

We are again offering anglers the opportunity to fish Pine Pool (open to all) or Canal Pool (carp permit holders only) from the morning of Saturday 25 June through to the evening of Sunday 26 June.  Pegs will be allocated at the time of booking.  Bookings close at 1.00 p.m. on the Friday before the event.  Please note there will be an administration fee of £5.00 to change your initial booking.  Three further sessions will be held on the weekends of 30/31 July, 27/28 August, and 24/25 September.

Time:  5.30 a.m. on Saturday through to 8.30 p.m. on Sunday.
Cost:   £40.00 (£20.00 for permit holders), payable at time of booking.

SUNDAY 25 SEPTEMBER
Food For Free at Ryton Pools Country Park

Experience the Warwickshire hedgerows in a way that most people miss: the treasures hidden under every leaf and around the next corner.  Discover the art of foraging: how to identify, harvest, prepare and cook a plethora of wild foods before experiencing the culinary delights of the countryside kitchen in an extraordinary feast of traditional hedgerow fare for all.

Time:  1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.
Meet:  The Visitor Centre.
Cost:   Adults £6.00, Children £4.00.
