Age UK Warwickshire (AUKW) is looking forward to a brisk pre-Christmas trade at its recycling centre re-use shops – three of which are located in Stratford-on-Avon District.
Affordable, quality goods ‘too good to tip’ are on sale at the shops at Burton Farm in Bishopston, Wellesbourne and Shipston-on-Stour.
AUKW spokesman, Graham Oliver said: “While browsing our books, toys and games, bric-a-brac, and electrical goods, you can also stock up on Christmas cards and wrapping paper. With prices generally mid-way between a car boot sale and a high street charity shop, we have plenty of ‘pre-loved’ bargains for the sustainably-minded. All proceeds from our shops go to support services for older people in Stratford and Warwickshire.”
Councillor Jeff Clarke, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment and Chair of the Warwickshire Waste Partnership said: “Warwickshire re-use shops are brilliant social enterprises – saving the public purse thousands of pounds in disposal costs as well as generating much-needed income for local good causes such as Age UK Warwickshire.”
Councillor Philip Johnson, Chair of Warwickshire County Council’s Communities Overview & Scrutiny Committee, said: “The Warwickshire recycling centre re-use shop network has been recognised and honoured at national and international level, and has won a string of award titles up to and including the International Corporate Social Responsibility Excellence Awards and The International Circular Economy Awards.”
