Have you ever wondered if your car service was carried out properly? Did the garage really replace the oil filter, test the electrics and fit new brake pads?
As part of Warwickshire County Council Trading Standards Service’s car servicing inspection project, Warwickshire residents can now have the quality of their car service checked, free of charge.
On Saturday 28th January and Sunday 29th January a vehicle expert will be on hand to carry out checks on vehicles recently serviced. Checks will be carried out in Warwick and should take no longer than one hour.
For more information and to book an appointment, please phone 01926 414080 (from Thursday 5th January 2017). Appointments are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
To take advantage of this free offer:
- You must be a Warwickshire resident and your car serviced by a Warwickshire garage.
- The car service must have been carried out between Saturday 14th January 2017 and Saturday 28th January 2017.
- You will need to bring with you the paperwork related to the service.
Car owners will receive appropriate feedback on the condition of their vehicle and on the quality of any service provided. Trading Standards will use intelligence gathered to direct their investigations in to the car servicing industry.
Warwickshire County Councillor John Horner, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety said:
“If you’re not an expert, it can be hard to know if your car service has been carried out correctly. This new initiative will give consumers peace of mind that their car service was carried out properly and if problems are found, vehicle owners will be given appropriate advice.”
Warwickshire County Councillor Philip Johnson, Chair of the council’s Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee added:
“Trading Standards support local businesses to trade responsibly but where garages are found to have charged for services they didn’t carry out, they could face enforcement action.”
Trading Standards Officers will not be able to repair faults on vehicles and in the unlikely event that a vehicle is found to be unroadworthy, the owner will not be able to continue to use the vehicle until it has been repaired and is safe to drive.
