Improved school closure alerts for parents

gritterWith a cold snap forecast later this week, Warwickshire County Council is reminding parents and carers how they can find out about emergency school closures.

There are a number of ways for parents to find out if their child’s school will be closed. They can go to www.warwickshire.gov.uk/schoolclosures, sign up for the council’s free text alerts, tune in to their local radio station or even follow the tweets from @wccschoolclosed .

During the last 3-4 years more than 50,000 text messages have been successfully sent to parents alerting them in a timely manner to the fact that their child’s school will be closed.

For instructions on how to sign up for text alerts go to www.warwickshire.gov.uk/schoolclosures.

For those who don’t want to sign up for text message alerts, there is an option to monitor emergency school closure alerts via the Warwickshire Direct Website www.warwickshire.gov.uk/schoolclosures or the RSS feed www.warwickshire.gov.uk/schoolclosurerss

School closures can also be followed on Twitter: @wccschoolclosed.
