Play a role in creating the Academy of Citizenship

Warwickshire County Council are asking for people in Nuneaton and Bedworth to come forward to form an Academy of Citizenship panel.

Panel members will play an integral role in planning the Academy of Citizenship community learning event which will be launched in September 2017. The Academy of Citizenship will be a programme of interesting talks, lectures and discussions run over a ten week period open to members of the public who are interested in learning more about being active as responsible citizens, in support of their community.

The Academy of Citizenship will cover a wide range of interesting range of topics including: setting up community groups; the role of councillors; safety and crime; planning and development and environmental issues.

The aim of the academy is to build on knowledge and understanding of how to be more active and involved in helping communities, and how to contribute effectively to the democratic processes in the borough.

Cllr Jeff Clarke, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environment said: “It is important that the Academy of Citizenship is appealing to communities across Nuneaton and Bedworth. The panel will play a key role in planning the content so it is relevant and interesting to those who attend.”
