Two hardworking students from The Avon Valley School and Performing Arts College have recently been rewarded for showing effort, commitment and making good progress as they prepare for their GCSE exams.
Throughout their final year all students at The Avon Valley School sit a number of mock exams to practice and prepare for their ‘real’ GCSE exams, which take place throughout May, and June, 2017. After completing a set of mock exams in December 2016, the Year 11 students were told in an assembly that the two students who made the most progress, between those exams and the next set of mock exams in April, would receive a special prize. In this case the special prize was an iPad, kindly donated by local firm Summit Insurance.
Analysis of the mock exam results showed that, Year 11 students, Ashan Alponsu and Charlotte Oliver, had made the most progress and the studious duo were presented with their prize during a year group assembly.
Rob Craig, Business Manager at Summit Insurance, said “We’re really pleased that the school were able to put the iPads to good use and that they were used to encourage all the students to do well in their final year of school. We hope that Charlotte and Ashan are able to use the devices as they revise and that they enjoy using them for years to come.”
Alison Davies, Headteacher, said “It has been wonderful to see our students working hard in preparation for their exams. Many of our students have made excellent progress between mock exams, and I hope that this trend continues so that our Year 11 students enjoy the success they deserve when they collect their exam results in August.”
