Find out about fostering for Warwickshire

Become a foster carer and be part of a large community where supporting children and young people to have the best start is a fun and rewarding career choice.

Warwickshire County Council’s Fostering Service is hosting two information events to encourage more people to consider fostering as a career. At each event there will be the opportunity to meet existing foster carers who can provide you with information on fostering and answer any questions you might have about fostering.

The events are as follows:

28 June 2017 Wellesbourne library 10am -12:30pm

4 July 2017 Rugby library 10am -12:30pm

Ann, a local foster carer describes her experiences of fostering “Fostering teenagers is where your advice and life experience will really help young people achieve a good future and to be part of that is really satisfying. And what have I gained? Amazing satisfaction in watching the progress of my foster children. Yes there have been problems and I expect there will be more, but all teenagers find these years challenging and it is more so for those who have had a tough start in life. It is really satisfying to see how a secure home can give positive changes.”

As a foster carer you will receive:

• support from a dedicated fostering social worker, social care worker and psychologist

• access to monthly support groups

• a bespoke training package

• access to 24 hour support

• earnings of up to £28,000 per year which reflects the real cost of looking after a child.

Foster carers can be single or couples and with or without children. What matters most is that potential carers have time, space, commitment, patience, a caring nature and skills to work with children and their families.

Cllr Jeff Morgan, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, said: “We urgently need foster carers from Warwickshire to look after our young people and give them a stable family home. The information events are a great way to find out how to make a real difference to a young person’s life.”
