New funds promote growth for businesses in rural Warwickshire

A workshop for businesses based in rural Warwickshire is showcasing a number of different routes to fund growth ambitions.

The Warwickshire Rural Hub has come together with Warwickshire County Council and the Rural Development Team at Defra (Department for Environment, Fisheries and Rural Affairs) to host a workshop to help businesses access the most relevant funding opportunities.

The Funds for Businesses in Rural Warwickshire workshop is taking place on Thursday 9th November, between 2pm and 4.30pm at the Council Chamber, Arthur Rank Centre, Stoneleigh Park and can be booked here.

Businesses are urged to register and come along to find out more about:

  • Defra’s Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) growth programme grants;
  • and other grants available across the Coventry & Warwickshire area e.g European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) investment grants.

A £2 million grant fund to grow businesses and create jobs in rural Warwickshire was launched earlier in the year. This comprised £1.5 million of business development grants open to small and micro businesses in rural areas including social enterprises and farmers diversifying into non-agricultural activities.  Up to £500,000 of tourism grants was also open to land-owners, people or groups representing rural communities, charities and public bodies.  A further £500,000 has since also been made available to the area.

Delegates will hear all about the new RDPE Growth Grants from a member of the Rural Payments Agency Team, as well as information on a wide-range of other grants available across the Coventry & Warwickshire area. There will also be the opportunity to hear from local businesses who have accessed business support and grants in the past, as well as the opportunity to network and ask questions.

The aim of the workshop is to give businesses the information they need to make applications for the right grants, and the chance to discuss possible projects with business advisers.

Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) worked with the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) and other government departments to secure the financial allocation through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) – part of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF).
