Warwickshire’s Year 4 Reading Celebration Winners

28 schools across the county participated in this year’s Year 4 Reading Celebration. The annual event is jointly organised by the Warwickshire Schools Library Service and the public library service.

Between 19th and 23rd March, quizzes were held for teams of 4 across 6 libraries. Since January this year, each school’s year 4 class have been completing reading logs, with each pupil clocking up 4 books. Each class or year group compiled a reading response which was presented at the start of each event by the teams, who then competed in a book quiz to win medals and a trophy for their school.

Stella Thebridge from the Warwickshire Schools Library Service said “We put children at the heart of all we do, so this event provides the perfect opportunity for schools to encourage more children to get involved in reading and celebrate their reading achievements.”

The winners were:

Nuneaton and Atherstone – Keresley Newland Primary Academy

Stratford- St. Nicholas C of E Primary, Alcester

Lillington – St Paul’s C of E Primary, Leamington

Rugby- Our Lady’s Catholic Primary, Princethorpe

Warwick – Telford Junior School
