With World Cup fever gripping the nation, children in Warwickshire will get the opportunity to share in the excitement during their school lunch time on Thursday ~ the day England take on Belgium ~ with a special lunch menu from school caterers, Educaterers.
The ‘Match Day Favourites’ menu, which has been put together especially for pupils to mark the Russia 2018 World Cup, will be served up at Warwickshire primary schools by Educaterers school catering teams.
It will feature some delicious favourites such as turkey footballs in a tasty tomato sauce with twisty pasta, with Quorn footballs as a vegetarian option; a fish finger sub with fresh crispy lettuce, mayonnaise and baked potato wedges; and a Belgian waffle with fresh fruit and sauce toppings.
With England winning two out of their three Group matches, all eyes will be on Thursday’s match, and it is hoped that the special Educaterers lunch will get pupils excited and ready for the big game.
Terry Tredget, Director of Catering at Educaterers, said: “The children are going to be so excited on Thursday and we wanted to help them share in the World Cup experience in their schools with this special menu.
“We work closely with our school catering teams to come up with new ways to get their school children engaged at lunch times and enjoying a selection of freshly prepared foods throughout the year, so our thanks as always to our staff, who are our greatest asset.
“I’m sure the children will have a brilliant lunch time, which will give them a bit of a change from their usual menu ~ and we’ll keep our fingers crossed for the game!”
Educaterers take care to use locally sourced ingredients including British Red Tractor turkey and free range eggs, and hold the Soil Association’s Food for Life Silver Catering Mark.
Primary, junior and infant schools using the Educaterers service have so far this year had special menus for St George’s Day, Chinese New Year and the Royal Wedding.
Educaterers provide over 120,000 meals every week to 195 schools across Warwickshire. For more information visit www.educaterers.co.uk.
