It may have been a loss for England last night, but children at Wolvey C of E Primary School got the opportunity to share in the World Cup excitement during their school lunch time yesterday with a special lunch menu from school caterers, Educaterers.
The ‘Match Day Favourites’ menu, which was put together especially for pupils to mark the Russia 2018 World Cup, was served up at the primary school by their Educaterers school catering team.
Catering staff, Supervisor Maria and Catering Assistants Jo and Kelly, dressed up for the occasion and decorated the school canteen, and served up items grown and prepared by the pupils, including potato salad ~ as well as some decorative flowers.
The special World Cup menu was served by Educaterers catering teams at primary schools around Warwickshire, and featured some delicious favourites such as turkey footballs in a tasty tomato sauce with twisty pasta, with Quorn footballs as a vegetarian option; a fish finger sub with fresh crispy lettuce, mayonnaise and baked potato wedges; and a Belgian waffle with fresh fruit and sauce toppings.
Terry Tredget, Director of Catering at Educaterers, said: “We wanted to help the children share in the World Cup experience with this special menu. We work closely with our school catering teams to come up with new ways to get their school children engaged at lunch times and enjoying a selection of freshly prepared foods throughout the year, so our thanks as always to our staff, who are our greatest asset.”
Educaterers take care to use locally sourced ingredients including British Red Tractor turkey and free range eggs, and hold the Soil Association’s Food for Life Silver Catering Mark.
Primary, junior and infant schools using the Educaterers service have so far this year had special menus for St George’s Day, Chinese New Year and the Royal Wedding.
Educaterers provide over 120,000 meals every week to 195 schools across Warwickshire. For more information visit www.educaterers.co.uk.
