Warwickshire County Council is pleased to announce today, that an important landmark has been reached in the creation of a new school for the village of Water Orton in North Warwickshire.
The Council has received land and funding from HS2 Ltd to provide the 2-form entry school on the new site. Willmott Dixon has been appointed as the contractor for this work.
Work on the new school will begin in the Autumn and it is expected the new school will open to a new intake of pupils in the Autumn of 2019. The existing school in Water Orton will continue operating until that time.
Cllr Jeff Clarke, Warwickshire County Council portfolio holder for Transport and Planning, said: “Warwickshire County Council puts children at the heart of everything it does and our education sustainability strategy is a key part of our focus.
“While Water Orton community will be significantly affected by HS2 the construction of our new school is great news for the community.”
Carl Lewis, Head Teacher at Water Orton School, added “We are looking forward to seeing our school go from strength to strength and our pupils thriving in their new environment.”
