Educaterers celebrate winning contract at town’s newest school and launch new centre for school meals excellence
A school catering company based in Warwickshire is celebrating winning the contract to provide school meals at the brand new St. Gabriel’s C of E Academy in Houlton – and has just launched a new Centre of Excellence at Boughton Leigh Junior School.
St. Gabriel’s C of E Academy opened in September to provide school places for the new community currently under construction in Houlton.
Educaterers has just celebrated its first year as a stand-alone business following its move away from being run as a local authority service to become the County’s first Local Authority Traded Company.
St Gabriel’s C of E Academy Headteacher, Andrew Taylor, said: “We are really pleased with the quality of service that our pupils enjoy from Educaterers, ensuring that they have a nutritious meal to see them through the afternoon.”
Pupils from St. Gabriel’s C of E Academy joined their Headteacher and Educaterers staff, including Managing Director of Educaterers, Terry Tredget, to mark the occasion at lunchtime today (see photo).
Educaterers launched in September 2017, taking over the delivery of school meals from Warwickshire County Caterers, which had provided a successful catering service to schools in the county for over 25 years.
A successful first year of trading has seen £1.2 million of business achieved and new school contracts won, including the contract to provide meals for St. Gabriel’s C of E Academy from the day it opened.
Terry Tredget, Managing Director of Educaterers, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be providing school meals to St. Gabriel’s C of E Academy, which is a brilliant new community school.
“In our first year of trading, we have been able to deliver a healthy level of business and impress new customers to win even more contracts like this one.
“I believe it is our passion for development and innovation combined with our many years of experience in the school and college catering industry that has resulted in this success, and we are continuing to re-invest in the company and our staff so our business is not only sustainable but continues to grow, taking on new contracts and more employees.”
Educaterers have also just launched a new Centre of Excellence at Boughton Leigh Junior School in Rugby. The Centre will showcase the best of what they do, develop and train both new and existing employees, and test new innovation in service and menu development.
Schools using the Educaterers service are treated to special event lunch menus throughout the year, which in 2018 included a themed lunch to celebrate the World Cup.
