Stockingford EYC scores highly in Ofsted inspection

On 20 November, Stockingford Early Years Centre was visited by an inspector from Ofsted, which has now published its report reinforcing the Nursery School’s existing rating of good and advising Stockingford is on track to reach outstanding status.

During the one-day visit the inspector focused on children’s progress and achievement, the quality of teaching and learning, and safeguarding including attendance and behaviour. During the day they also conducted lesson observations, met with members of the school’s leadership team, and interviewed parents to find out their opinions and views of the school.

Having completed the inspection activities the inspector commented that the quality of teaching across the school was high, the school environment supportive, and that students were well behaved and fully engaged in learning.

The inspector concluded that the school “remains good, and there is sufficient evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school may be judged outstanding if it received a Section 5 inspection now.” The Section 5 inspection is due to take place within the next two years.

Sharon Kindred, Headteacher, said: “We are all very proud of our Nursery and the high quality of education we offer. We are lucky to work with fantastic children who exemplify our values and are so well supported by parents who are very much a part of our school community. I would like to thank all of our governors, teachers and staff in the Centre, as well as the pupils and parents who have helped Stockingford Nursery School get to where it is today.”

Cllr Caroline Phillips, ward councillor for Stockingford, said: “A massive congratulations to all the staff, children and parents at Stockingford Early Years on achieving another good rating from Ofsted and with every indication that they will soon be recognised as outstanding. A strong start in life is so important for our children and ensuring they have access to quality education and social development through nursery school is vital to achieve this.”
