Warwickshire County Council is pleased to announce that the applications for public buildings across Warwickshire to apply for funding towards the installation of Changing Places facilities has been extended until 11th November.
Standard accessible toilets meet the needs of some disabled people but not all; Changing Places toilets are designed to meet additional needs and ensure the facilities are fit for purpose for everybody with additional features and space.
The grant, funded by Warwickshire County Council, is open to public and private sector organisations who are responsible for publicly accessible buildings where a Changing Places toilet could be provided. The funding provided is for the provision and installation of approved equipment only.
Sarah Jones, Centre Manager at Royal Priors, Leamington Spa, which has installed a Changing Place facility, commented
“We have had really good feedback from customers about the facility, as it really does have a positive impact on many people’s lives, and allows them to enjoy days out without having to worry about changing facilities.”
Councillor Les Caborn, portfolio holder for Adult Social Care and Health added:
“We are proud to support our residents to lead more independent lives by offering this funding opportunity, creating a more accessible environment within our public buildings for people of all abilities.
“This is an issue which is currently being highlighted on a national level through a consultation being carried out by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and we are pleased to offer funding to those looking to install a facility ahead of any changes this consultation might bring.”
Applications for funding are open until 11th November 2019 and each application will be considered as it is submitted.
