Warwickshire Fire Control received the first of nineteen emergency calls reporting a derelict pub on fire on Coventry Road in Warwick at 16:24 today. Two fire engines were initially mobilised, one from Leamington Spa and one from Kenilworth. On arrival of the first crew a message was received stating that the building was one hundred percent involved in fire and two further crews were requested. These were mobilised from Southam and Henley-in-Arden. The specialist aerial ladder platform from Leamington Spa fire station has also attended to assist in fighting the fire from above.
The incident involves a three storey derelict public house measuring fifteen metres by twenty metres in size, one hundred percent of the building has been involved in fire. Firefighters are using large water jets, hose reel jets and utilising the aerial ladder platform to pour water onto the fire to hard to access areas. Due to partial collapse of the building firefighters are tackling the fire from the outside.
Crews expect to be at the scene of the fire through the night.
