New newsroom launched

Anyone wanting to find out the latest news about Warwickshire County Council should find their task far easier and more interactive following the launch of this new newsroom.

Visitors to us are greeted with a new website, presenting a host of county news in an interesting and accessible way. The new newsroom also takes advantage of all the latest social media links, including Twitter and Facebook.

The site offers a host of benefits, including:

  • The ability to subscribe to all news stories via email. This can even be localised, so if the visitor is only interested in news stories about Nuneaton and Bedworth, they are the only ones they will get.
  • It is also possible to get all stories via an RSS feed to your computer (a way to have articles sent directly to your computer by clicking on the orange RSS logo), and again these can be localised.
  • There is a new featured images section, displaying the top stories of the day.
  • Some stories contain video embedded within them, to add another dimension to the visitor experience.
  • The new newsroom is mobile phone compatible.
  • It links in with our current  iphone app.
  • Other smartphones (mobiles that can use the internet, such as those that can use Android) will also be able to see all news stories (this link will only work from a mobile device).

Kushal Birla, Warwickshire County Council’s Head of Customer Service, said: “We are always looking to develop new ways to make the customer experience easier, and present information in the most useful way possible.

“The development of this new newsroom is yet another way we can reach the people of Warwickshire with relevant information in an easy to understand format.

“This development is supported by other communication channels, including several Twitter feeds run by the county, including a news feed (@wcc_news), Warwickshire Direct (@warksdirect), schools (@wcc_schools), Fire and Rescue Service (@warksfirerescue), and even Country Parks (@countryparks), to name but a few.”
