Two summer holiday events are taking place next month offering children and families discovery opportunities.
On Monday 8 August, families are invited to head down to Odibourne Allotments in Kenilworth for a spot of Bug Hunting to find out what might be lurking in the hedges and vegetable beds. Warwickshire Museum’s Keeper of Natural History, Steven Falk will accompany visitors for the hour long sessions at 2pm and 3pm.
Tickets for the bug hunt cost £6 per child, all ages are welcome but under 8s must be accompanied by an adult. Spaces are limited, booking in advance is essential. To book a place please telephone Heritage Education on 01926 412069.
On Friday 5th August, people are invited to the County Record Office to put themselves on the Warwickshire map. One of the oldest and most colourful maps in the County Record Office collection is on display and the office will be making a giant map complete with model buildings that visitors can help create.
The records office, situated in Priory Park off Cape Road, Warwick, will be open for two map making sessions during the day from 10.30am to12.30pm and from 1pm to 3pm
The session costs just £2.50 per child, or £1 for under 5s, there is no need to book and all ages are welcome, children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Laura Pye, Head of Heritage Education commented that: “These are just two of the events on offer from Heritage Education this summer to bring history to life with hands-on activities and hope children and families will join us to unlock Warwickshire’s fascinating past together.
