Warwick Manufacturing Group
Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) is one of Europe’s leading manufacturing groups and is involved in publicly and privately funded research on innovation in products and in manufacturing processes. Focus is strongly on research, development and application of new approaches for a wide range of industrial sectors. WMG adopts a partnership approach, involving industry closely in the delivery of its extensive research, technology transfer and training programme.
WMG has formed five Centres, with a physical base at Warwick University, to provide a focus for its collaborative research and development (R&D). The Centres comprise state-of-the-art equipment coupled with research teams formed from staff with both traditional academic and industrial backgrounds.
Mirroring the multidisciplinary nature of research topics the teams comprise individuals with a wide range of specialities including engineers, physical scientists, materials scientists, mathematicians, designers, IT specialists, social scientists, economists and knowledge transfer experts.
A strong postgraduate presence in the region has supported and encouraged research in operational areas including logistics, manufacturing strategy, supply chain management, benchmarking and business process improvement.
This is a superb achievement. Everywhere I go, whether it’s India, China, Malaysia, Thailand or South Africa, people talk to me about the success of WMG, about the links that it has built up around the world as a result of the magnificent work that has been done.
