Country Parks benefit from public generosity

Following a call for donations of mobility scooters, Warwickshire’s Country Parks now has a new fleet in operation.

The previous fleet had come to the end of the road after being put through their paces by many Country Parks visitors over the years who value the benefits of having them at the parks.

Cllr Jeff Clarke, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Country Parks, said “We were extremely pleased, and grateful, for the response we got from people offering to donate scooters.

“We had an excellent selection to choose from and finally got three we felt would be long-serving vehicles for our customers. We would like to thank Jack Billingham, Mrs Hearne and Peter Creedon for their donations to the Country Parks service, and they have all received complimentary park passes. In addition, we would like to thank all those other people who very kindly offered us scooters that we were unfortunately unable to take.”

The parks operate a mobility scooter scheme, and an annual membership costs just £20 a year. In addition day hires can still be purchased through the visitor centres.  For more information visit the website at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/parks.

The mobility scooters enable families with any mobility issues to still enjoy quality time out together, and the majority of the paths are surfaced and relatively flat.
