Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a road traffic collision on Sunday 27 November 2011 at 12.30am. The incident was located on the M6 south bound, between junctions 4a and 4, Castle Brom to Coleshill Pool. Five vehicles were involved in the collision (four cars and one lorry).
Two appliances from Coleshill and three from West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance.
A child travelling in one car had suffered multiple serious injuries and despite the best efforts of everyone at the scene, firefighters, ambulance and hospital staff, nothing could be done to save the girl and she was confirmed dead shortly after arriving at hospital.
A further 7 people were treated at hospital for their injuries.
