Lorry Fire – Junction 1 to 2 M6 Northbound

At 21:50pm Warwickshire Fire Control received a large number of calls to a lorry fire on the M6 northbound between junctions 1 and 2. Two appliances from Rugby and a water bowser from Coleshill were mobilised. At 21:59 pm an assistance message was received requesting the attendance of the Police and Highways Agency to assist with closing the northbound carriageway of the motorway. At 22:06pm a further message was received stating this was one lorry, located on the hard shoulder well alight, two breathing apparatus, a hose reel and lighting were in use to extinguish the fire. A further message was received at 22:19pm stating that crews were using a hydrant from the road above the motorway to assist with the water supply and that the Police and Highways Agency were in attendance. Crews expect to be detained at the incident for a further 60 minutes.
