Fire in Scrap Yard – Newbold Road, Rugby – 2 Fire Engines from Rugby and 1 from Southam attended

Warwickshire Fire Control received a number of 999 calls to a fire in a scrap yard, Newbold Road, Rugby at 02:57am on Wednesday 30th March 2016. One fire engine from Rugby attended, Upon arrival they requested a further 2 fire engines, these proceeded from Rugby and Southam. The incident involved a fire in the scrap yard, believed to be a tractor trailer unit, firefighters used hose reels, with water supplied from hydrants, thermal image camera, lighting, small tools and hydraulic cutting equipment to extinguish the fire. Crews were on scene for 3 hours and a crew are re-attending this morning to carry out a re-inspection to ensure the fire is completely out.
