Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service received the first of five 999 calls at 13:43 on Wednesday 26th September reporting a lorry fire on the A429 near Wellesbourne. Two fire engines, one from Gaydon and one from Stratford were mobilised.
On arrival crews were faced with a the trailer of an articulated lorry well alight. The lorry was carrying 28 tonnes of sheet glass separated by cardboard packaging. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels to extinguish the fire. Crews were detained at the scene some time ensuring all hot spots had been extinguished.
The incident was under control by 14:10 and crews had left the scene by 15:10.
